Every round ends the same way: in the clubhouse, replaying the one pure 7-iron and conveniently forgetting the other 94 shots. This blog is that clubhouse conversation, written down — a weekly tip that might actually help your game, a take on what's happening on tour, and the occasional confession from the crew.

Let's start with the tip, because we respect your time: **stop aiming at pins**. For the rest of this season, aim at the fat middle of every green. Weekend hackers lose more strokes to short-sided chips than to anything else in golf. The middle of the green is always a good miss. Try it for one round and watch three strokes evaporate.

As for tour takes — the season keeps reminding us that the gap between the best in the world and the rest of us isn't talent, it's the short game. Nobody on TV chunks a wedge. We, on the other hand, have turned chunking into a brand identity. There's a lesson in there somewhere, probably involving practice, which we will continue to ignore.
