Europe Drinks From the Cup Again (And We Can't Win a $5 Nassau)

While we were out there donating balls to the pond gods this weekend, Team Europe was busy staging a Sunday beatdown at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.

Tied 8-8 going into Sunday singles, Europe came out swinging in the rain and never let up. Rookie Lottie Woad holed the clincher on 17 to guarantee the 14 1/2 points, and Carlota Ciganda — because of course it was Ciganda — slammed the door on Jennifer Kupcho to seal it. Captain Anna Nordqvist lifting the crystal while getting soaked? That's a champagne shower we can respect.

The Americans didn't play badly. Europe just played like every putt owed them money. Sound familiar? It's the exact opposite of our crew, where a three-footer for bogey induces the shakes.

Tip of the Week: Play the Hole You're On

Here's what weekend hackers can steal from Solheim Sunday: match-play amnesia. Woad and Ciganda weren't thinking about yesterday's foursomes. They played one hole at a time, and when a hole went sideways, they left it in the previous fairway.
